In the U.S., water is very accessible. It's second-nature to go turn on the faucet to fill a pot for boiling, or press a glass to the tap on the fridge for a nice cold drink. Sometimes it's easy to forget how something that simple can be such a blessing.
Unfortunately, not every one has this luxury. In places all around the world, people struggle to obtain water. In some instances people travel very far to get water, while others are surrounded by unclean water. During water week, we discussed the importance of staying hydrated and how water helps us. Imagine how much more difficult it could be to stay hydrated without easy access to clean water. If water is unclean, it can lead to sickness and fatal illnesses.
During water week, Kid Zone also began a collections bucket. We are collecting money all summer long to send through UMCOR (united Methodist committee of relief) to help someone out somewhere else in the world. This money will help towards one of the many different water projects that UMCOR leads. The bucket looks like this :
and will be in the big room each day for the rest of the summer! If you have any spare change or would like to donate, feel free to drop it in the bucket. Any amount will help tremendously. If you would like to check out some of UMCOR's water projects, copy the link below and paste it in your web bar!
