I am the Lorax

I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees for the trees have no tongues.
-Dr. Seuss

The kiddos had a blast swimming at Camp Guilrock!

And again at Bur-Mil...

And on Thursday we read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss and made some of our own oobleck! We printed out the recipe for everyone and put them in your family folders. It's very simple!!

Build it Week!

Build it week is over! We thought we would never see the end of toilet paper rolls, but we made it. It was fun, and the kids showed a ton of creativity. They were innovative and really enjoyed making up their own ideas.

Dan Nicholas

Our trip to Dan Nicholas Park on Tuesday was very eventful! Of course on the way there and the first hour it was pouring rain...but after that we had tons of fun. The kiddos got to ride the train and carousel, play mini golf, visit the petting zoo and the wildlife park, and finally dig for gems in the gem mine.

Coo Coo Cachoo!

All of the animals in the wildlife park are part of our North Carolina wildlife!

Homeland Creamery

Our trip to Homeland Creamery last Friday was a blast! We got to go on a hay ride, feed baby cows, milk Ms. Betty, and eat fresh, yummy cake batter ice cream! It was seriously yummy and I am lucky enough to live right down the street from a store (Best Way) that sells it. :)

Here are some pics we got of the kids!

Always Learning!

Once a week, the kids are split into small groups, and then take turns participating in a Bible study with Mrs. Gloria. It's a time to relax and listen, as well as learn something new and reflect on how they could apply the lesson to their own lives. As a book, the Bible is a wonderful piece of literature and has many good moral lessons. As a religious manuscript, it is a life guideline. During Art week, Kyle and Hayes collaborated on an interesting paragraph that explained what they had learned! We wanted to share the paragraph and allow you guys a little insight on what was discussed. Enjoy the following reading by Hayes Meekins and Kyle Berkey:

2 Vessels and an Ark
by Kyle and Hayes

Have you ever heard of the Titanic, the Costa Concordia, and Noah's Ark? If not, here are some facts. The first fact is that Noah's Ark was built approximately 1,000,000 (one million) years ago. Also, Noah's Ark was about 450 feet long, or 150 yards long. Another fact is that Noah's Ark was 45 feet high and 75 feet wide, and it had 3 decks, but only 8 passengers. The Titanic was built in 1912. The length of the Titanic is 882 feet. The Titanic's weight is 50,000 tons. The Titanic has 6 decks and 2,200 passengers. In 2012, the Costa Concordia was built. The length of the Costa Concordia is 952 ft. The Costa Concordia has 13 decks and 4,252 passengers. Although these ships were very big, only one stayed afloat. That was Noah's Ark.
